The State of Arizona has been celebrating the Copa Shorts Film Festival for three years now. It is a two-day event that attracts some of the best emerging short filmmakers from around the world.

The Copa Shorts Film Festival aims to help aspiring filmmakers to showcase their best work in filmmaking.

Copa Shorts Film Festival 2019

On February 23, 2019, Maricopa City School’s Performing Arts Center in Maricopa, Arizona will hold the 3rd annual Copa Shorts Film Festival.  The festival will showcase works from both Middle School and High School filmmakers from around the world.

It will be a fun-filled two-day celebration of their talent.

On the 24th of February 2019, the CSFF will showcase short films tjat include stories about Military Veterans, Native Americans, as well as a range of comedy, animation, drama, documentary, foreign, sci-fi, and horror films.

The COPA film festival allows filmmakers to interact with their peers from all around the world.  The organizers hope that this will help them expand their horizons and learn new things about filmmaking.

To this end, the organization provides educational seminars for attendees. These are undertaken with the help of professional filmmakers who share their insider expertise via Q&A sessions.

Who can join the CSFF?

If you are a filmmaker who is still attending school and wish to submit your short film (20 minutes or less), you can submit it to the festival.

The categories for the short films are:

  • Animation
  • Comedy
  • Documentary
  • Drama
  • Horror
  • Sci-Fi
  • Foreign (captioned in English)

Rules for Submission of Entries

  1. You need to submit all short film (20 minutes or less) or screenplays (5 pages or less) to FilmFreeway.com.
  2. NO FEE WAIVERS are available.
  3. All foreign/non-English language films must have English language subtitles. This is a must for a better understanding of the short film.
  4. Works-in-progress will not be considered. The short film should be finished before submission.
  5. To be considered for the competition, the film must have been completed AFTER January 1, 2018.
  6. “MATURE SUBJECT MATTER”: If film warrants it, must be designated on FilmFreeway. No pornographic materials allowed.

The Copa Shorts Film Festival will be held from February 24th – 29th, 2019, at the Maricopa City Hall in Maricopa, Arizona.
