SYNOPSIS: THEATRUM MAGICUM tells the story of a magic show performed at the end of the 18th century by a magician and his troupe. The magician’s persona is modeled after Cassandre, the protagonist of Jan Poptocki’s plays, but also resembles Georges Méliès as a character in his own films, and Baron Münchhausen (both from movies and Gustave Doré’s illustrations).

Reviews
Avant-garde movies are considered unpopular. This short film is one step forward in changing that. Great idea, good realization.
A visual spectacular. For a short film the production quality, costuming and make-up are outstanding. Delectable in its presentation and sumptuous in its performances Theatrum Magicum is glorious even without (or maybe because there is no) dialogue. Utterly captivating.
